Due to her portrayal of extreme confidence in her abilities and independent nature, which are qualities required in a good leader; Diyansha was chosen to head DISEC. Apart from these qualities her friendly nature and aptitude to get work done on time sets her apart from others and makes her a better leader.
His cooperative and punctual nature make Aadesh an ideal co-head for DISEC as these are qualities that many leaders often lack. His dedication to his duties and composed persona are bound to inspire the delegates to work hard and participate enthusiastically. His overall leadership is a win for the committee.
Good Morning esteemed chief guest, Mr. Muralee Thummarrukudy, respected teachers and dear delegates. It’s a great honor to be co-chairing the first committee of the United Nations General Assembly – the Disarmament and International Security Committee. Currently being headed by Mr. Agustin Santos, DISEC is the committee that is always ready to combat the rapidly proliferating global issues that relate to disarmament and puts the hard-achieved peace in peril. We strive to find the solutions to the problems, faced by the international security regimes, be it national or private, our much-evaluated opinion is always offered. Making the world a better place to live in, is all that matters. Our committee, situated in New York, United States of America, deals with any challenge, any problem, any question that deals with disarmament, global challenges, and threats to peace that affect the international community. Backed by 195 countries, DISEC is one of the biggest committees in the United Nations.
Indeed, this opportunity to co-chair DISEC, along with my friend and the chair Diyansha Magesh, has been a prestigious one. This year, present in the committee are 20 delegates, who would be representing 20 countries in total.
This year, after hours of exhausting research and discussion, in regard with the GSMUN’s theme – A world of turmoil; confronting crisis for global peace, the topics that have been selected are:
Government’s accountability of and responsibility with confiscated goods
In this modern era, the law is one of utmost significance. The law is what keeps the society up and running. The law maintains peace and avoids conflicts. However, people break the law for their own reasons, and often bring contraband goods into the country which is banned by the government. Therefore, the government takes away these goods. Now the question arises, what does the government do with these goods? Does the government destroy them or does it use them for its own benefit? How can government agencies be made accountable after they have confiscated these goods? There ought to be the highest level of transparency involved when the public seeks information about the end point of these goods.
Foreign Intervention in matters of international security
A hundred and ninety-five countries make up this world. All the countries are dependent on each other in some way or the other. Unfortunately, not all countries are at peace. There are prevailing conflicts among some countries, and all countries are affected due to these countries. Do all countries need to engage in the conflict of a few countries. Probably not. However, there are times the countries outside the conflict do need to engage with countries in conflict. This is exactly what our committee is going to discuss – in matters of international security, should there be foreign intervention?
In conclusion, I would like to say I am looking forward to begin the GSMUN, and have heated yet formal and fruitful debate. I promise to do everything I can, to make this GSMUN a memorable and a unique experience that will be remembered forever.
.
Thank You.
Good Morning all! The committee started by the roll call which was followed by the delegates giving their opening speech. The speeches were presented in the following order: Afghanistan, China, France, Italy, UK, Burkina Faso, USA, Syria, followed by the last delegate of Persian Gulf. This was followed by presentation of the resolution paper by the Delegate of Italy. The delegate started by presenting Perambulatory clauses and then operative clauses. Several amendments were put forth in front of the delegate of Italy where the delegates came up with many valid points of arguments and support. During this time the co submitters were sticking to their duty. The debate was slowly getting heated up .Due to time constraints the debate was put to hold .The debate than began where this time the delegates of France,USA and UK were more enthusiastic than ever. They made more than 50% amendments which were all approved by the Chair. The committee then proceeded for the voting procedure where the resolution failed with a clear majority. After the lunch break, on a request made by the delegate of Italy ,the resolution was reconsidered and was again debated upon. This time there was a conflict of argument between the three countries (France,USA,Italy) along with the UN rep. After debating for many hours the moved with the voting procedure where the resolution again failed with two third majority.
This is a long form text area designed for your content that you can fill up with as many words as your heart desires. You can write articles, long mission statements, company policies, executive profiles, company awards/distinctions, office locations, shareholder reports, whitepapers, media mentions and other pieces of content that don’t fit into a shorter, more succinct space.
Articles – Good topics for articles include anything related to your company – recent changes to operations, the latest company softball game – or the industry you’re in. General business trends (think national and even international) are great article fodder, too.
Mission statements – You can tell a lot about a company by its mission statement. Don’t have one? Now might be a good time to create one and post it here. A good mission statement tells you what drives a company to do what it does.
Company policies – Are there company policies that are particularly important to your business? Perhaps your unlimited paternity/maternity leave policy has endeared you to employees across the company. This is a good place to talk about that.
Executive profiles – A company is only as strong as its executive leadership. This is a good place to show off who’s occupying the corner offices. Write a nice bio about each executive that includes what they do, how long they’ve been at it, and what got them to where they are.
